About Us!

The Reid Scottish Dancers is a Welwyn Garden City based dancing school with pupils currently aged between 4 and 23. Highland Dancing is a fun way to keep fit as well as learning teamwork and making new friends.

When you first start you usually come to one lesson a week and then most people  progress to two. Classes are held in Welwyn Garden City town centre and we work to local school term dates.

We compete in Highland Dancing competitions all over the country and as a school, are very successful. In recent years we have also been extremely successful in the English Choreography competition and have taken choreography teams to compete in Scotland at the Highlands and Islands Choreography Challenge in Oban.

Senior dancers get the opportunity to perform in many cabarets all over the country, especially around Christmas, New Year and Burns Night.

We take yearly exams with the UKA (United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing) and once we reach the age of 16 we can take teacher qualification if we want to.

As a school we organise the East Herts Highland Dancing Competition which is held in Welwyn Garden City each year in November.

In early 2007 we held a Choreography Supper over two evenings which showcased a selection of our choreographed routines. All our dancers were involved and we had an audience of over 100 people both evenings.
